New Generation & The Revolver!

We all have seen old western movies and shows where we see the revolver in its glory. In today’s world of guns, the concept of buying a revolver would almost seem irrelevant. With tv shows, movies, social media and other outlets this generation has access to, it would seem that revolvers are a thing of the past.

What I mean by “this generation”… has nothing to do with age. You could be 42 years old and decide times are getting bad, so you decide that getting a firearm is going to solve all your problems concerning the dangers of society. Figure you have watched enough movies and videos, you could get a gun and have no problem. This generations gun owners are…

1. The video game people. And yes I say people because believe it or not, they’re people age 40+ who can’t wait to get off work, go home, crack open a beer and play 5 hours of call of duty just so they can have a sense of action in their lives. On the game they shot the new FN 57 pistol with a red dot optic and a golden suppressor with customized trigger configurations, all of which was seen on a tv screen and played with a game controller, so handling a real firearm…no problem.

2. The person who has never seen a gun in real life. Except for on a cop, or the air soft guns sold in Walmart that a lot of people ignorantly mistake for a toy. They don’t take proper safety precautions when handling it and forget that this can harm you.

Today’s new gun owner with all their knowledge or lack there of, wouldn’t dream of purchasing a revolver for their first firearm. It just wouldn’t make sense.

But what if I told you that how guns were portrayed in those days of the old westerns, are 10x more realistic then they are now. While I am a semi automatic shooter in and out, my true love for guns helps me to realize that if I really wanted a firearm to be reliable it would no doubt be a revolver.

Today’s tv normally shows some guy with a gun who has more bullets than the gun can hold, it never jams, a safety on a glock, taking apart a gun with one hand, and a whole bunch of other foolishness that has this generation entirely messed up. In the old western movies, what a revolver did in the movie is the same thing it would do if you went and bought one from your own neighborhood gun store.

Now granted, you won’t find a revolver that can hold 15-18 rounds in it, but you will find a revolver that holds 6-7 rounds and have a better chance of it never jamming! (Keep it clean).

Simplicity and reliability, two words that no matter the brand of revolver, you can almost definitely have the best of both worlds when buying a revolver. But who am I kidding, look at it…if I put a revolver up to a sig suer p229 legion fresh out of the box, even I’m not thinking about simplicity and reliability! I’m thinking…“Damn this Sig looks good in my hand! It feels amazing!

Buying a revolver is like buy a history book on guns. When I buy my first revolver, with everything I know, it will be like a trip to the past, where you get to see what real shooting is really all about!
